BASKETBALL BENCH

The B-ball Bench is an ambiguous object that is both functional and symbolic. Developed as a prototype for seating and ball storage in a private recreational facility, the bench seats 5 players and holds 14 basketballs

Lightweight and rigid by virtue of its geometry and efficient use of material, all the components of the bench (rails, ribs, and top) are cut from a plywood sheet. Digital modeling and fabrication allow for a quick and precise assembly of each unique piece. As balls come in and out of play, they are dropped through the bench seat at one end and roll down to the opposite end, where they stack, are stored, and are easily accessed.
