BLU DOT

This new Boathouse enriches its local community with a multi-faceted public/private collaboration between a community-based non-profit and a county park system in the Pacific Northwest. As it establishes a new home for the growing community rowing club, it also expands existing recreational and competitive boating offerings on the shores of a beloved man-made lake.  

Design for the Boathouse is focused on connection to the landscape, providing a threshold between the surrounding mountains and the lake’s expanse. As a solitary element on the site, it serves as a lens through which users understand and access the water. Its materials and detailing reflect its surroundings and enhance the relationship between the built and natural environments.
